Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Environmental Engineering Intern to be based in either Orlando, Florida or Tampa, Florida office.
The position is expected to begin in August 2024.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of water and wastewater treatment, water quality improvement, and stormwater management projects for a variety of clients.
- Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Carry out engineering analyses and prepare reports and technical specifications under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Work collaboratively within project teams to ensure project objectives are met within the defined scope, schedule, and budget.
- Collect and analyze data, perform field work, and undertake site inspections under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Attend site visits and meetings in clients’ offices.
- Maintain project records and files, contribute to the preparation of progress reports, and communicate project and task updates to team members and supervisors as needed.
- Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level member.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering with the intent to continue after the internship, unless graduating.
- Candidates must have completed two years of study in their program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree emphasis in water resources, water or wastewater treatment, or conveyance/pipelines.
- Currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Proficient in Civil 3D, Revit, ArcMap, or other engineering software packages.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented while still being able to understand and comply with the big picture and goals of a project.
- Documents time and effort accurately.
- Interest in water/wastewater infrastructure design and a willingness to travel and work in the field as needed.

- Offered rate of compensation (Florida locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
