About the role

Overview

The Agency of Transportation (AOT) is looking for a detail-oriented and well-organized Financial Administrator I to join our dynamic Accounting Unit. The ideal candidate will play a key role in compiling the Agency's energy consumption data, processing financial transactions, and reconciling our internal financial systems. 


The tasks associated with this role involve developing, modifying, and maintaining intricate Excel spreadsheets, as well as precise data entry within complex financial systems. Therefore, the ideal candidate is one who exhibits a keen attention to detail, demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Excel, possess a working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, and Access), and showcases adept collaboration and communication skills in a team-oriented environment. 


The primary work location for this position is in Barre, VT. While there may be opportunities for telework and alternative work schedules, these arrangements are subject to approval. Periodic in-person work is required, and locations may include our office at Barre City Place, other central Vermont locations, or district and regional offices statewide.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business/office administration.

OR

Associate's degree in accounting, business/office administration AND two (2) years or more of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing and analyzing financial data and records.

OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing and analyzing financial data and records.

OR

One (1) year or more of experience as a Financial Specialist III with the State of Vermont.

 

NOTE: All levels of required accounting experience, unless otherwise noted, must have been performed to ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and standards.

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
