Knowledge of patient safety, basic transportation equipment, infection control processes, clerical skills, excellent telephone etiquette, and good communication and organizational skills.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
High School Diploma or GED
- Experience
Six (6) months of experience in transport
May use applicable education in lieu of experience requirements.
- Licenses and Certifications
(BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - Course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC). Upon Hire
JOB DUTIES
- Maintains friendly, efficient service attitude towards Transporters and co-workers.
- Follows all department and hospital policies and procedures and to promote patient care.
- Plans, monitors and directs Transporters for proper work habits and daily tasks. Assigns requests to Transporters and reviews accuracy of work completed.
- Coordinates Patient Transporters daily schedule along with breaks and lunches in a timely manner.
- In coordination with the Patient Transport Training Supervisor, ensures Transporters are fully trained and is responsible for specific training duties. Works closely with Operations Supervisor to ensure all business operations needs are met.
- Identifies and resolves problems with transport flow in a timely manner, displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment, uses discretion or seeks advice from Manager or Operations Supervisor.
- Recognizes emergency situations, records unusual conditions, and initiates code procedures if needed.
- Participates in Monthly Meetings and/or educational activities.
- Ensures that the customer departments are notified of delays, cancellations, and changes in the mode of transportation, as appropriate. Relays this information to the Transporter in a timely manner.
- Knows the locations within the hospital facility and uses safe, efficient routes to and from all locations.
