Patient Care Secretary- In Office

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Patient Care Secretary to join our hospice and palliative care team. This role provides critical administrative support, ensuring smooth communication between staff, patients, and healthcare providers. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and passionate about patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general clerical support, including typing, filing, copying, and data entry

  • Organize, sort, and maintain patient documentation and files in a timely manner

  • Assist with preparation of admission packets, orientation materials, and new hire paperwork

  • Maintain personnel files and assist with internal communications

  • Answer incoming calls, take messages, and route calls appropriately

  • Support the team with HomeCare Homebase and other software tools

  • Coordinate care communications with Nursing Supervisors and Interdisciplinary Group (IDG)

  • Uphold confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times

  • Promote a positive image of the hospice’s philosophy and mission to all stakeholders

  • Participate in in-service training and the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent

Experience:

  • 1 year of general office or customer service experience (required)

  • Experience in medical office or hospice care setting (preferred)

  • Familiarity with HomeCare Homebase (preferred)

Skills & Requirements:

  • Proficient in basic computer operations (preferred)

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred)

  • Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional extended shifts

  • Physical capability to lift and move up to 50 lbs, and perform regular filing activities
