This role oversees the management of the Banquet Department which includes Beverage and Arrangements. This role also ensures exceptional customer service and oversees all convention events, meals, meeting set-ups, coffee breaks, receptions, off site catering, maintenance, cleanliness, and any other functions as designated on the Banquet Event Orders. These duties will also include, but not be limited to, administration, training, planning, operations, discipline, scheduling, and financial responsibility.

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):

  • Manage, develop, and train the Assistant Managers of Banquets, Banquet Service, Beverage Team, and Arrangement teams.*

  • Hire, schedule, performance evaluations, train, disciplinary processes, and ensure all standard operating procedures, along with service standards, are followed by Banquet Servers, Banquet Management, Arrangements staff, Receiving, Linen Runners, and Coat Check in accordance with Company Policy and Union Contract. *

  • Act as a liaison between the Convention Services, Culinary, Beverage, Stewarding, and other Departments as required according to the Banquet Event Order (BEO) to confirm service requirements for all group functions. *

  • Create floor plans by designing creative buffet and reception presentations, according to BEO details.*

  • Ensure Meeting Room setups are completed to BEO specifications. Ensure rooms are clean and in good repair. Coordinate preventative maintenance or submit requests for repairs as needed.*

  • Ensure the training and consistent execution of all service and hospitality standards for Banquet staff. Ensure all Banquet employees are current with company required training and industry standards.*

  • Manage and monitor department expenses for labor, food, equipment, and supplies, including assisting with monthly linen inventory. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, revenue enhancement, and expense control to maximize cash flow/profit. *

  • Manage accurate preparation and presentation of Banquet checks for client signatures and posting to Night Audit.* 

  • Maintain health, safety, and sanitation standards, according to Company Policy and ServeSafe standards.*

  • Check Meeting and Dining event room setup to ensure compliance with the BEO prior to start time, making necessary changes as identified. *

  • Seek opportunities to improve our product and service offerings to enhance the competitive edge and maintain our position as the Banquet service leader in the market.*

  • Lead meetings and events to ensure compliance with standards, guest and employee needs, and overall satisfaction of the event.*

  • Communicate effectively with fellow banquet managers, staff, other departments, and guests to meet the details outlined in BEO as well as comprehensive planning with Assistant Banquet Managers, Convention Services Managers,Culinary, Stewarding, Engineering, other related departments, vendors, and guests to ensure success of the event and high guest satisfaction.* 

  • Provide high levels of service, both internal and external for our guests, Team Members, and vendors/suppliers.*

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older 

  • Minimum of 5 years with Banquet Management experience or in a related field 

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and complete an annual driver check

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Post-Employment: RAMP and ServSafe Manager Certifications
