Position Summary
The Lamination Team Lead promotes the safe, efficient, and high-quality operation of the lamination line. This role oversees production, trains and mentors Lamination Operators, conducts daily stand-up meetings as needed, and communicates effectively with supervisors and team members. The Team Lead monitors production metrics, supports line changeovers, enforces safety protocols, and promotes consistent product quality while fostering collaboration across shifts. Additionally, this role may require operating forklifts and assisting as a materials handler when needed.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinate the lamination team, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback.
  • In the absence of Production Supervisor, conducts daily stand-up meetings to communicate priorities, production goals, and safety reminders.
  • Operate and oversee lamination machinery to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Monitor production lines, identify quality issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Train operators on standard work processes, safety procedures, and quality standards.
  • Maintain clear communication with supervisors and team members regarding production progress, issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with adhesive handling, profile changeovers, and line setups.
  • Rotate across lamination positions including sorting, inspecting, assembling, and packaging, as needed.
  • Promote safe work practices, completing daily safety audits and reporting incidents or hazards.
  • Operate forklifts and assist as a materials handler when required to support production needs.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of work areas for smooth shift handoffs.
  • Updates KPIs board with production data and prepare reports on performance, downtime, and quality metrics.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and adhere to all Standard Work practices.
  • Assists the supervisor with managing overtime coverage and overtime scheduling in collaboration with extrusion/shipping/Lamination needs
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Required Education, Experience & Skills

  • 1 year experience on manufacturing or 3 months in current job for internal Candidates.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic math skills, including fractions.
  • Ability to lift 70+ pounds and stand for prolonged periods.
  • Capable of using small hand tools (calipers, tape measures, hand saws, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Experience in training or mentoring team members (preferred).
  • Mechanical awareness and ability to identify and report equipment issues.
  • Ability to operate forklifts safely and handle materials as needed.

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience in a lamination or production environment.
  • Familiarity with composite and vinyl panel lamination processes.
  • Experience in team leadership or supervisory roles.
  • Knowledge of Standard Work practices and production documentation.

 

Work Environment:

The atmosphere is that of a manufacturing plant. The position will primarily work where moving machinery produces noise. Employees must wear Personal Protective Equipment that is issued for that location. Temperature can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. Physical fitness to include movements, positioning, remaining stationary which include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing/pulling, forward bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, postural balancing, manipulating, trunk rotation, handling, gripping, and talking (hearing). Must be able to lift up to 80lbs-100
