Position Specific Summary

Prepares and operates land survey equipment to measure land area boundaries and topographic features. This is an intermediate level classification within the Survey series. Each level is distinguished by increasing levels of complexity, judgement and responsibility, as well as defined technical expertise.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collects field data related to topographical features, boundaries, and elevations. Records and computes angles, distances, and elevations from field data.

  • Sets up, calibrates, and operates various survey instruments.

  • Conducts surveys measure and determine features.

  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Working Conditions

Indoor and outdoor work with heavy exposure to extreme physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazardous environment. Ability to Lift 30 lbs. Ability to work in different terrains and extreme weather conditions. Bending, crawling, stooping, standing, vision, lifting, walking etc. This position will be expected to operate a city vehicle. The typical weekly work schedule is four 10 hour days.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

6 months post high school

Experience

One (1) year of relevant experience

Equivalency

Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

License/Certifications

Preferred Qualifications

Driving Requirement: Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver’s License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

The ideal candidates will possess the following:
