Part Time - 6:30am - 3:00pm - flexibility for Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday coverage availability;
Includes every other weekend rotation requirement
Pay Range
$19.45 - $29.20Major Responsibilities:- Provides quality customer service to customers by providing one-on-one attention to detail. Determines, explains and develops dispatcher logic and transporter activities.
- Monitors Epic transportation module System including loading and prioritizing patient transport requests. Schedules breaks, lunches, and relief dispatchers during his/her shift.
- Directs the activity of the transport function and transporters, ensuring timely completion of tasks. Monitors procedures related to availability and completion task and follows up on issues related to service and operations.
- Ensures requests have been addressed in an efficient, timely manner according to current departmental standards, priorities and patient appointments.
- Serves as a liaison between Patient Transportation and other departments.
- Receives and documents associate call offs & tardies.
- May work as a transporter during high transport volumes and to complete necessary transport requests to ensure department goals & standards are met.
- Assigns, collects and distributes pagers and phones (rover devices) to transporters upon beginning of shift once logged into the Epic system Monitors daily sign-in/out procedures.
- Ensures professional interaction with team members in a high-pressure team atmosphere and ensure all staff is performing transports fairly and workloads are administered equally and fairly.
- Develops and promotes positive customer service relationships with patients, patient family members, visitors and staff. Ensures accurate, timely dispatch of transport requests. Ensures maximum staff productivity. Resolves problems related to patient, visitor, staff or employee complaints. Recommends solutions for ongoing or recurring issues. Assists with projects and quality improvement efforts.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
Education Required:
- No Formal Education.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 1 year of experience in a direct patient care position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in customer relations.
- Satisfactory completion of body mechanics training for transporters within one month of start date.
- Understands and applies knowledge of basic patient transport concepts, infection control practices and proper body mechanics.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to walk up to 25% of the workday.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bent and twist at various times throughout the workday.
- Exposed to electrical, explosive, blood and body fluids, and radiation hazards throughout the workday, therefore, protective clothing must be worn as necessary.
- Must be able to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job, including repetitive use of feet required in working with surgical carts.
- Must be able to:
- Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- Lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
- Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to:
- Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
- Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
