Lead and Coordinate durability vehicle testing for the Mercedes-Benz Passenger Car, AMG and VAN durability test fleets in the United States. The engineer will be tasked with creating high quality test results with high efficiency and in the shortest possible time. Key targets of durability testing is the evaluation of the overall vehicle, the validation of the powertrain and drivetrain systems, including software validation, hardware validation, OBD diagnostics, and emissions testing.

Job Responsibilities:
- Manage mileage accumulation (driving profile, locations, required maintenance etc.) for vehicles of the Mercedes-Benz durability testing programs. Support the service supplier business development working with external providers to maximize work quality, perform capacity planning and associated staffing, and cost minimization. Responsible for monitoring and controlling work output and associated driver testing for all service providers.
- Monitor technical status of vehicles. Identify faults based on driver reports and diagnostic tools. Evaluate faults and lead problem solving activities, including 1st level technical analysis and detailed analysis for overall vehicle issues.
- Report vehicle status, both technical and administrative, in all necessary and required forms and databases. Document technical durability testing status within the FINAS database. Create week reports for management and other stakeholders. Maintain internal Key Process Indicators for local MBRDNA and Daimler Management to monitor the current status and help forecast necessary future changes for the Durability testing planning.
- Propose and manage root cause identification and vehicle repair processes promptly to enable continuation of vehicle testing and validation of the solution effectiveness. Control complete process from part logistics to effectiveness checks, including workshop orders in PIT.
- Drive and Control detailed invoices from external Durability Service Provider and internal partners (e.g. emission lab and workshop). Control and overall program budget and report USD/km. Approve monthly billing per program.
- Leads weekly and monthly meetings including reports with German customers, internal cross-divisional status meetings, and weekly internal department meetings related to Durability testing topics.
- Active participation in continuous process improvements for internal and external processes. Enable service provider to prepare for future requirements and lead preparations. Support the ISO process documentation, corrective action reports, process improvements, and auditing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Automotive, or Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant work experience.
- Automotive Knowledge: Detailed knowledge of automobile technology, vehicle architecture, assembly structure, modules and parts. Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle functions.
- Diagnostic Knowledge: Knowledge of common diagnostic tools (Monaco, INCA, Videamo, Diagmera, ..) and ability to interpret diagnostic data. Experience with CAN bus systems and ECU design.
- Project Management Skills: Ability to control projects from conceptualization to implementation. Clear understanding of key performance indicators and effective controlling and reporting. Strong skills in risk assessment to prevent project delays.
- Interpersonal and Team skills: Experience in intercultural environment. Experience to work in a complex organization structure.
- Analytic or systems engineering Knowledge: comprehensive skills to identify issues, analyze and evaluate problems, develop solutions and scenarios, evaluate alternative solutions based on established criteria and (lead) decision making.
- Organization and leadership skills: Ability to organize workflows within the Atlanta Tech Center and with all external partners, especially with the durability service suppliers.
- Frequent use of speech, vision, hearing, use of hands for computer use and presentations. Frequent sitting, standing and reaching with hands. Driving vehicles on the road, test trips, proving grounds.
- Valid Driver’s License.
