The Boeing CompanyThe Artemis program is seeking Experienced Electrical Power Systems Engineer to support design, analysis, integration and test of the Core and Exploratory Upper Stage programs. Candidate will work closely with a small team of subject matter experts to drive the successful delivery of both our core stage and upper stage capability. Candidate will be based in Huntsville, Alabama or at alternate location at Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF), New Orleans, Louisiana. Travel up to 20% of the time may be required to support test and launch operations at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) - Huntsville, AL; MAF - Louisiana; Stennis, Mississippi, and Kennedy Space Center (KSC), Florida.
Position Responsibilities:
Primary Owner of the SLS electrical power subsystem model
Responsible for model validation and performing regular model / analysis updates across the program lifecycle using data from various suppliers, Boeing, and NASA test events.
Support program design cycle reviews with predictive performance analysis and metrics derived from the subsystem model
Author model confidence, power system analysis, and validation documents necessary to support NASA customer needs as well as Boeing formal verification objectives
Work with internal teammates to integrate the subsystem model into larger analytical efforts at the stage level
Coordinate with NASA Customers, internal subsystem teams, and various component suppliers to properly mature and maintain the model
Support internal test and verifications teams to ensure tests are configured and conducted appropriately to collect sufficient model validation data and to meet system requirements
Review supplier component designs during various hardware lifecycle milestones to ensure compliance is maintained with electrical power system requirements
Investigate, track, and drive to closure technical solutions to power system integration issues
Provide onsite support during electrical power system test events
Brief avionics and program engineering review boards on electrical power system technical topics
Serve as electrical power system technical point of contact and participate in cross-discipline integration meetings
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
Level 2: Typically, 2 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications
Level 3: Typically, 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications
Familiarity with general rocket design, subsystems, and environments (Power, RCS, TVC, GNC, cryo Conditions, shock and vibe, vacuum, etc.)
Familiar with MATLAB, Python, and LTspice
Basic understanding of electronics, circuit design, and power quality
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's or Master's in Aerospace, Electrical, Power Systems Engineering or related discipline
Moderate understanding of Python, MATLAB, GIT, and DOORS
Proficiency in developing, troubleshooting, and validating electrical models using LTspice
Background in System Engineering standard practices and processes
Moderate understanding of electronics, circuit design, and power quality
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
Understanding of battery design and performance, especially Lithium Ion chemistry
Strong background in rocket avionics subsystem design
Experience working with space programs, NASA programs preferred.
Strong communication skills and capable of working in a multi-tasking environment while supporting multiple activities concurrently
