Senior, Pre-Construction Project Manager

What You Can Expect
As our Senior Pre-Construction Project Manager, you will collaborate with the DSS project development, origination, business development, engineering, procurement, and delivery teams to advance distributed generation (DG) and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects through their development stages and prepare for handoff to the Construction (Delivery) Team. The projects will span various regions across the contiguous United States.
In this role, you will work closely with Engineering staff to understand technical system designs, procure the necessary materials and labor, and ensure systems are assembled according to validated drawings and specifications. You will also enforce strict health and safety requirements on all projects. Additionally, you will play a key role in mentoring and training junior team members. This position is based in Chicago, IL, and reports to the Manager of Pre-Construction, Engineering & Delivery.
What You’ll Bring

You hold a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil or Electrical Engineering, or related field
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in DG Development, Project Management, Engineering or Construction roles
- You hold or are working towards a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and have experience in the renewable energy industry, particularly with solar photovoltaic arrays and battery energy storage systems
- You possess excellent oral and written communication skills, along with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Power BI) and familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce
- You have working knowledge of the NEC code, AC/DC electrical systems design, and experience with distributed generation and storage projects
- You demonstrate leadership, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- You are skilled in time management, show a bias for action, take ownership of projects, and can acquire and maintain General Contractor Licenses
Additional Details
- This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
- Must be available to travel domestically up to 25% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record use of company vehicle, ability to drive to site locations
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Compensation
Salary Range: $96,100 – $141,240 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus
