Film Faculty Associate

Description

The Sidney Poitier New American Film School at Arizona State University invites applications for Faculty Associates to teach undergraduate film courses at the Media and Immersive Experience (MIX) Center in Downtown Mesa and at the Tempe campus.

These positions are one semester appointments, part time, non-benefits eligible with no tenure implications. A typical Faculty Associate course load is one to two classes per semester, at $1500 per credit. Teaching duties include:  preparing course materials, responding to and evaluating student work, and availability for one-on-one assistance (via weekly office hours for on-campus classes and electronically for online classes). 

The number of courses is contingent upon needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment.  Individuals hired as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits-eligible appointments at Arizona State University. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field 4 years of industry experience or a Master’s degree in relevant field 2 years of professional industry experience and/or any combination of education and experience, by time of appointment.

Desired qualifications:

• MFA or Ph.D. in relevant field by time of appointment
• Experience in general film production; field sound production; visual effects; creative producing; cinematography; directing
• Record of scholarly publication and/or evidence of professional
• Demonstrated evidence of commitment to teaching excellence
• Minimum of two years of post-secondary teaching experience
