Data Science Engineer

Role:
The Data Science Engineer at Nuvia plays a critical role in maintaining, scaling, and improving our data infrastructure and systems. This individual is expected to lead and manage complex data initiatives across teams, ensuring seamless data architecture, high-performance querying, and clean pipelines.

Responsibilities:

• Design, maintain, and optimize data architecture to support business operations and analytics.
• Write and manage large, efficient SQL queries across varied datasets.
• Build and maintain Python scripts and pipelines to support data transformations, reporting, and machine learning workflows.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, marketing, and leadership to ensure accurate and accessible data.
• Monitor data systems to ensure integrity, uptime, and scalability.
• Implement data best practices, including version control, testing, and documentation.
• Provide guidance on causality, correlation, and data-driven insights that inform business decisions.
• Stay current with trends in AI, LLMs, and modern data tools to enhance capabilities.

Requirements:

• U.S.-based and available during standard working hours (with flexibility for cross-team collaboration).
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering or data science roles or advanced data analytics
• Advanced proficiency in SQL (required).
• Basic python knowledge (required)
• ML/AI understanding should be something you are constantly learning more about
• Ability to translate data into clear business recommendations.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.

• Efficient Query Organization & Structure: Ability to collaborate and gain understanding from everyone on the data team to reduce issues and expedite troubleshooting.
