Recreation Specialist - Senior Services

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a Recreation Specialist - Senior Services to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Parks and Recreation department. The Part-Time Facility Attendant earns a competitive salary of $20.58 - $22.27/hour based on qualifications. We also offer access to the city's recreation fitness center and employee assistance program.

Availability on Weekends may be required.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A RECREATION SPECIALIST - SENIOR SERVICES

Job Summary

Under general direction, performs work of considerable difficulty planning, assisting with the organizing and facilitating of the department's special events.

Essential Functions

• Performs regular and timely attendance at work.
• Plan and organize programs, events, and classes catering to active adults at the Knapp Activity Center. Execute tasks following the designated timeline outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures for KAC Programming.
• Responsible for creating the monthly Knapp Activity Center calendar and newsletter (Knapp Happenings) in Canva and Publisher, as well as managing the center's social media account.
• Seek collaboration opportunities with local agencies that serve active adults or offer resources to the geriatric population.
• Coordinate all aspects concerning Contract Instructors at KAC in alignment with established procedures.
• Possess the ability to drive the Knapp Activity Center Van(s) for daily transport and field trips, including occasional evening and weekend outings.
• Demonstrate proficiency in KAC operations, including daily schedules, event details, equipment management, and facility rules.
• Support the Facility Supervisor in identifying, preparing, and justifying annual budget requests for Senior Programs.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to all patrons, ensuring they receive respectful and friendly treatment. Foster positive relationships with members, advocating for the department with a welcoming demeanor.

Education, Experience and Licenses:

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred.
