Equipment Operator/Yard Person, Wirt - Bay City, MI

The Levy Group of Companies is seeking an Equipment Operator/Yard Person to work at our Wirt Dock location in Bay City, MI The Equipment Operator/Yard Person performs all general functions as they pertain to operating heavy mobile equipment, general housekeeping, clean up, and general equipment and plant maintenance. Shift: 10-12 Hr Day Shift, Monday - Friday, some weekends required Pay: $20-$24/HR, depending on experience Benefits

  Responsibilities The Yard Person will:

• Operate various heavy mobile equipment such as front loaders
• Load/offload railroad cars and offload cargo ships 
• Offload Agricultural Aggregate (i.e. fertilizer) and ensure proper storage
• Communicate and collaborate with water vessel crew to ensure safe unloading of material
• Perform light maintenance on equipment and plant
• Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of the yard
• Comply with all safety regulations, policies, and record-keeping
• Maintain work area to allow safe movement and access
• Meet customer service expectations
• Other duties as assigned by Plant Manager

  Skills The ideal candidate will have:

• Ability to operate heavy mobile equipment or the willingness to learn 
• Basic mechanical knowledge
• A team and safety-oriented mentality 
• Ability to sit, stand, walk for an extended period of time, and lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability and willingness to lean how to properly store fertilizer
• Work outside for an extended period of time, work near water and tolerate noise and temperature variations
• Ability to communicate with customers and co-workers
• Valid Driver’s License
