Department Overview:
The Senior Manager, Business Intelligence role within the Financial Crimes Risk Management (FRCM) division is responsible for maintaining domain knowledge of TD Bank's source systems and data structures to support AML's data and technology strategic initiatives. The FCRM Senior Manager will lead technical build execution efforts on future state end-to-end data and detection ecosystem that will lead to business intelligence outcomes such as data agility, operational efficiencies, and strategic advantages. This role will also involve enabling future state capabilities such as enabling self-service analytics and modeling, automation, decision intelligence creation, and enablement for other advanced technologies. The Senior Manager will also produce technical business requirements and take lead in liaising with TD Bank's technology teams to deliver strategic outcomes for FCRM.
Job Description Summary:
The Senior Manager, Business Intelligence leads a specialized team of professionals varying in size and complexity that are responsible for reporting and/or BI for a key business / function in the creation of new reports and data extracts. This role contributes to the design / direction of key strategic BI related projects / initiatives to ensure critical data and reporting elements are included and all business needs are met.
Depth & Scope:
- Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
- Oversees and leads a large and/or highly complex, and diverse reporting function for an area of significant risk, complexity or scope
- Strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials, with deep industry, external / internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizes and anticipates emerging trends and; identifies operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management / enterprise areas
- Facilitates key strategic discussions and provides thought leadership to executive audience (output may include strategic roadmap and/or deliverables / frameworks / short to long term goals etc.)
- Sets operational team direction and collaborates with others to execute on common goals
- Focuses on longer-range planning for functional area (e.g. 12 months or greater)
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree or advanced technical degree preferred (e.g., math, physics, engineering, finance or computer science) Graduate's degree preferred with either progressive project work experience, or;
- 7+ year of relevant experience; higher degree education and research tenure can be counted
Preferred Skills:
- Candidates with AML-specific experiences preferred and/or CAMS certified
- Deep query skills on big data and cloud platforms
- Experience with analytical platforms and machine learning-based toolsets preferred
- Proficient programming skills in SQL, Python or R against structured and unstructured databases/files
- Candidates with both technical and AML skills and a minimum of 5yrs of applied work experience in this domain preferred
Customer Accountabilities:
- Leads a team of data / reporting analysts or specialists
