The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As the Planning & Projects Leader, you will own company-wide planning processes across income and cash flow, translate enterprise priorities into financial scenarios and executive-ready narratives, and lead finance projects that improve planning capability and support enterprise objectives. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Leading all medium and long-term planning cycles for the organization on both income and cash flow, including timeline development, communication and coordination with key stakeholders, consolidation of financial inputs, and executive review preparation.

  • Partnering with business groups, supply chain, and function teams to gather key financial inputs, validate assumptions, understand and document risks / opportunities, and ensure alignment with strategic and operational priorities.

  • Leading enterprise financial modeling, variance analysis, and scenario planning to ensure alignment with investor commitments and support capital allocation decisions.

  • Preparing executive level summaries and presentations for leadership.

  • Maintaining and enhancing budgeting tools, templates, and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. 

  • Driving continuous improvement projects related to financial planning processes, systems, and reporting capabilities.

  • Mentor and guide finance team members involved in the planning process.

  • Leading the planning, coordination, and execution of finance‑related projects, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities.

  • Ensuring compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and financial governance standards.

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)

  • Eight (8) years of Finance and /or Accounting experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • MBA or graduate degree from an accredited institution

  • Strong financial acumen - ability to translate complex business problems into financial terms

  • Excellent influencing, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills

  • Fluency in using Excel, SAP, Longview, PowerBI, and other 3M financial platforms / systems to extract data

Work location:

  • This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic

Relocation Assistance: Not authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
