Position Summary: The Admissions Specialist is responsible for coordinating the non-clinical components of the inpatient admissions process, including insurance benefit verification, pre-certification, and patient registration. This position works closely with the liaison team, without interacting directly with referral sources or families, to ensure timely and accurate processing of admissions.
Halifax Health | Brooks Rehabilitation - Center for Inpatient Rehabilitation, located within Halifax Health – Medical Center of Daytona Beach, specializes in treating stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury and complex orthopedic conditions. A full spectrum of physical and neuro rehabilitation services are provided.
Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the admission process from insurance benefit verification to patient arrival in collaboration with the liaison team.
- Coordinate internal communication and logistics to ensure timely room placement and readiness.
- Track and report admission status updates daily to support operational transparency.
- Verify benefits for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans.
- Obtain authorizations by submitting clinical documentation and communicating with payers.
- Manage and coordinate response for insurance denials, peer-to-peer reviews, and expedited appeals as needed.
- Review and obtain required signatures on admission documentation from patients or legal representatives.
- Notify relevant departments of upcoming admissions and confirmed bed assignments.
- Maintain consistent communication with the Nurse Liaison team; escalate issues to the Manager of Admission Services when necessary.
- Offer professional and welcoming experience for patients and their families upon arrival.
- Uphold a positive image of the organization through courteous and respectful service.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in admissions or registration, preferably in hospital, inpatient rehabilitation, or skilled nursing
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with insurance verification and authorization processes.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
- Proficiency with EMR platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.

Hours: Full-Time; 40hrs/week
