Job Description
Eurofins is seeking a Property Risk and Business Continuity Specialist to join us in our mission contributing to a safer and healthier world by providing our customers with innovative and high-quality laboratory, research and advisory services. The Regional Business Continuity Officer is primarily responsible for overseeing the development, maintenance, and testing of the organization’s business continuity and disaster recovery plans for US operations. Secondarily, the role will identify and advocate for prudent property protection and resiliency measures. This position is an internal consulting role and requires a structured candidate with self-confidence and negotiation skills. This position reports to the US Director of Risk Management with a dotted line report to the Group Risk and Business Continuity Manager in Brussels.
Eurofins is an international network of 800 laboratories in 47 countries, and strives to be resilient against any type of major incident that could impact its activity, whether its causes are natural (e.g. natural disasters), accidental (e.g. fire) or criminal (e.g. cyber incident).
Description/Specific Assignments:
- Implements policies, strategies, methods, and tools to enhance current Business Continuity (BC) and Property Risk Control (PRC) programs.
- Leverages expertise and works closely with local lab site leadership and stakeholders to assure alignment to Group standards and implementation expectations.
- Partners with local teams as a resource to problem solve and advance planning and preparedness initiatives.
- Host workshops to develop competence and drive BC and PRC initiatives at the lab sites.
- Audits, Tracks and reports the status of BC and PRC implementation.
- Assist with external BC audits.
- Educates facilities teams on prudent resiliency measures relating to natural and man-made perils that may impact facilities.
- Tracks resiliency gaps and progress.
- Supports Site Facility Managers in performing property risk self-assessment for fire and natural hazards readiness.
- Works with Group Risk Management and Group Insurance to develop and share risk mitigation strategies, and Best Practices for risk controls.
- Participates in physical site visits performed by the Property insurer in US, tracks progress on recommended follow ups.
- Contributes to due diligence for both M&A activities and construction projects.
- Facilitates Property loss investigations and incidents analysis, tracks incident causes, identifying trends and suggesting improvement plans.
- Provides input to Total Insured Value calculations and supports improvement in the accuracy of the building values at risk.
Qualifications
Personal/Technical Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering, Business Continuity/Emergency Planning, or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year(s) of experience, of which at least 1 year in a similar position
- Results oriented.
- High level of energy, drive and passion to succeed.
- Very structured with strong organizational skills
- Ability to build relationships in a constructive manner.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent writing and speaking skills in English.
- Ability to lead workshops, trainings and moderate meetings.
