This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change. 

Your Responsibilities

As a Sr. Software Engineer for John Deere ISG located in Urbandale, IA , you will:

  • Develops, codes, configures, and tests programs and systems. Evaluates and implements enhancement design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications.
  • Analyzes assignments and determines software specifications that must be fulfilled to achieve objectives.
  • Follows industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation.
  • Mentors junior software engineers on the team.

What Skills You Need

  • 6 or more years of experience building, deploying and operating highly available distributed cloud native systems using cloud platforms and services like Azure, AWS or GCP.
  • 6 or more years of experience demonstrating expert level knowledge of design patterns and cloud architecture patterns (microservices, event-driven, serverless, API gateways, service mesh, etc.).
  • 4 or more years of experience working with containers and orchestration tools.
  • 4 or more years of experience scaling and performance optimizing Cloud software.
  • 3 or more years of experience with DevOps, CICD and Infrastructure as code
  • 3 or more years of experience in designing, configuring, and implementing suitable metrics and observability for cloud-native applications.

What Makes You Stand Out

 Preference is given to candidates with expertise in the following areas:

  • Familiarity with networking and security concepts in Cloud environments, including API gateways, firewalls, routing, and security policies.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, specifically Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience in designing and maintaining scalable APIs, along with a grasp of webhooks.
  • Working knowledge or familiarity of C# and DotNet as programming stack.
  • Proficiency in relational and NoSQL database systems, encompassing scaling, sharing, and replication.
  • Understanding of monitoring and logging practices in Cloud environments, with a focus on retention and cost optimization strategies.
  • Adapt at comprehending requirements and delivering effective solutions and proposals.
  • Self-motivated and dedicated to achieving successful outcomes.
  • In-depth understanding of distributed architecture.

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or Engineering and 6+ years of work experience.
