Description
Supervise, coordinate, and provide technical assistance, guidance and leadership for employees working with process control systems to optimize plant processes through strategic use of plant data and automation.
- Supervise and coach employees to ensure compliance with all Freeport safety and regulatory policies.
- Plan and coordinate daily and longer-term work, supervise employee actions, track employee training and plans future training needs.
- Provide technical assistance with automation system operations and maintenance.
- Evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
- Contribute to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts.
- Represent the department on Company-sponsored steering teams.
- Order parts and other supplies as required
- Process automation equipment life cycle management
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED and seven (7) years of technical experience in an area or areas relevant to Process Automation, including supervisory or lead experience as well as project management experience and electrical safety OR
- Associate Degree and (5) years of technical experience in an area or areas relevant to Process Automation, including supervisory or lead experience as well as project management experience and electrical safety OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical area similar to Process Automation and three (3) years of technical experience in an area or areas relevant to Process Automation, including supervisory or lead experience as well as project management experience and electrical safety AND
- Three (3) years of experience must include working with regulatory and advanced control systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer/System engineering
- Previous supervision experience
- Electrical safety training or experience
- Process control systems manufacture’s training or certification
- Experience in process historian or other data base storage and retrieval system
- Understanding of the science behind comminution, Flotation, Exothermic reactions, and other processes used in mining and mineral beneficiation and processing.

Compensation:
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $84,000-$116,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
