Banner Health is seeking a Certified Patient Care Assistant to join our Surgical Step-Down unit at Banner Boswell Medical Center. The unit is a Surgical Step-Down, high acuity unit caring for post open heart and thoracic surgery patients. We are a fast-paced team with patients requiring post-operative assistance with walking, blood sugars, vital signs, basic physical care needs of bathing, toileting and other duties as assigned. This is a great opportunity for a Patient Care Assistant who possesses skills and abilities typically attained with experience in an acute care seeking a great learning experience with high acuity patients. Requires Licensure as a CNA/LNA through the State Board of Nursing.

As a Certified Patient Care Assistant you will provide routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. As the ideal candidate, you will be responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation of medical records, and provide a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department. You will be a valued member of our team and be a part of a strong team collaboration.

• Shift Hours can be from 7am-7:30pm (Days)
• You can utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage.There are no set days you can be scheduled each week
• Varied Shifts = could be working days nights, weekends
• Weekend Rotations are required in this role. 2 Weekend shifts required each month
• Rotating Holidays Required - 1 major and 1 minor
• Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-Night Shift differential when applicable

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical record; provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and assisting patients with nutritional intake, as needed.

2. Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care. Assists in the transportation of patient specimens.

3. Recognizes and reports abnormalities and/or changes in the patient’s health status and responses to treatment to a licensed professional. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for which care is provided.

4. Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and state scope of practice; procedures may include blood draws, foley catheter removal, EKGs, and EKG monitoring. Provides
