Why This Role Matters:You’ll be the financial backbone for our Affordable Living and HUD properties—ensuring transparency, compliance, and efficiency. Your work directly supports housing stability for individuals and families in need.
What You’ll Do:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements for Affordable Living properties.
- Reconcile general ledger and bank accounts monthly.
- Track cash balances, execute transfers, and maintain accurate records.
- Oversee HUD and MSHDA reporting requirements.
- Manage grants and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Serve as the go-to resource for financial inquiries from Affordable Living staff.
- Participate in annual audits and recommend process improvements.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- 2+ years of general ledger accounting experience preferred.
- Knowledge of HUD requirements and GAAP standards.
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to work in a paperless environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Work is remote to those residing within the state of Michigan.

Applies accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely journal entries and financial reports while maintaining appropriate control over procedures for all Affordable Living/Housing of Urban Development (HUD) properties.

Job Qualifications
Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, or related field.
Experience
- Preferred: Two years in general ledger accounting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant financial Samaritas policies and accounting regulations (GAAP).
- Knowledge of HUD requirements.
- Able to demonstrate the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities.
- Ability to perform job functions with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or mathematical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
- Advanced ability to understand, analyze and interpret reports, statistical and financial data.
- Ability to operate with minimal direct supervision.
- Advanced proficiency in utilizing various computer applications, including and not limited to Word and Excel. Excellent data-entry
