Position Overview:

Perform pre-analytic procedures, including test order entry, specimen collection, specimen processing and/or blood product handling. Perform analytic procedures, including testing of specimens and/or blood products, reviewing results and interpreting results. Perform post-analytic procedures, including result release/reporting, result correction/amendment, responding to inquiries, and specimen storage and retrieval. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of test results and/or blood products by performing quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. The position works night shifts and weekends.

Job Description:

Education Requirement:    US or foreign Bachelor’s or equivalent in Medical Technology; any biological science field or a closely-related field of concentration including completion of internship, of any duration, in a clinical laboratory scientist program and a Clinical Lab Scientist License.

Experience Requirement:   1 year experience in the job offered, Medical Technologist or any closely related occupation or position.

Alternate Education and Experience Requirement: None

Education or experience must include:

-       CLSL License

-       Experience in calibrating instruments

-       Knowledge of the field of clinical laboratory principles, procedures, and practices related to their assigned department (i.e., Microbiology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, or Hematology).

-       Understands the concepts of: • Continuous Quality Improvement • Quality Control. Proficiency Testing Programs. • MSDS Program. •Laboratory Safety (OSHA Guidelines, Chemical Hygiene). • Infection Control.

-       Capability in performing basic phlebotomy

-       Understanding of basic statistical methods

Wage Range:       $60.21-70.51 per hour
