None/Not RequiredOpportunity available in the Portland, Oregon metro area for a talented, motivated Systems Engineering Co-op student to design, develop, and test a variety of products including Head-Up Guidance Systems, Enhanced Vision Systems, and innovative new display products geared toward the military, air transport and corporate jet markets. With an emphasis on product quality, we are developing systems which bring improved value to the flight deck through enhanced situational awareness, lower operating minima, and added safety benefits. From being the Head-Up Display provider for the Boeing Dreamliner to the Head-Up Display provider for the Business Jets, Collins Aerospace continues to build trust every day.
Our Systems Engineering team is responsible for head-up guidance, enhanced vision system requirement definition, including the definition of interfaces with other aircraft systems, the definition of desired functionality (including display formats and behaviors), and the verification and validation of the correct implementation of these defined characteristics, as well as LRU system definition and qualification. Systems Engineering is also involved in the system certification primarily with FAA, EASA and Transport Canada.
Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run May/June- December (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).
What You Will Do:
Conducts technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and other analyses.
Seeks to identify possible problems presented in applicable projects that may cause a delay or exceed budget. Contributes to finding appropriate solutions.
Performs analysis at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
Manages configuration process, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Decomposes customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and generates verification criteria and plans for the requirements.
What You Will Learn:
Perform analysis at all levels of the system including concept, design, system architecture, modeling, integration, test, installation, operation, and maintenance for the head-up guidance system and / or imaging systems or components.
Perform, system integration, validation, verification and cost and risk analysis
Decompose customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements
Generate verification criteria and plans for system level requirements
Qualifications You Must Have:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position
Qualifications We Prefer:
Avionics Experience Preferred, Private Pilot License
Experience with systems engineering development processes
Knowledge of ARP4754A
Basic knowledge of DO-178B/C, DO-254, and DO-160G
Knowledge of aircraft or electronic systems
