Job Description
AECOM is seeking a self-starter and experienced Business Development and Project Manager to drive growth and serve Ports & Marine and Aviation clients, primarily focused in Southern California. This external facing leader will represent AECOM in the marketplace and oversee business development, sales, strategy development and execution, and project delivery.

Job Summary/Responsibilities
The right candidate will need to be a growth minded and client-service oriented leader who can work collaboratively with other senior leadership and recruit and mentor staff in a fast pace setting to support business development, marketing and communications, capture management, strategy, and project delivery. The ideal person must be able to verbally and visually communicate their ideas clearly and convincingly to peers and senior leadership.
The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:
- Help build a strong and thriving culture in AECOM Transportation that promotes equity, diversity, & inclusion, sustainability, and innovation; while preserving technical excellency in our core competencies.
- In collaboration with senior leadership, develop and own the long-term vision for sustained growth of AECOM’s Ports & Marine and Aviation practices in Southern California.
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team in the US West Transportation on delivering the strategy and driving strategic growth initiatives throughout the region, including identifying strategic market opportunities, growth strategy, and associated personnel/skills planning.
- Program manage the capture process for designated key pursuits to ensure best practices are being adhered to, and continuously improve capture results.
- Serve as client account management program for designated key clients.
- Serve as project manager for Ports & Marine and Aviation projects in the region.
- Represent AECOM as an industry leader in relevant industry organizations and at events.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors Degree and 10+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership
- Experience in business development, and strong existing relationships with Ports & Marine and Aviation clients in Southern California
- Experience in Project Management within Transportation in California.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in planning, engineering, or a related field
- 15+ years of related experience
- Strong understanding of best practices in business development and capture process for professional services
- Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate problems clearly and simply to clients, leadership, and technical staff
- Ability to balance various project and company responsibilities and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality.
- Professional certification(s) in the established discipline, such as being a Professional Engineer or Planner
