Senior IT Manager Enterprise Data Platform

The Senior IT Manager, Enterprise Data Platform role is a technical leadership role responsible for leading a data product development team focused on data ingestion, data curation, and serving enriched data to other applications while ensuring data completeness, data latency service level agreements, and monitoring source data quality. Your cloud data architecture leadership will play a vital role in the creation of solutions for SEI’s data systems. You will support the team in the creation of cloud reference architectures to promote reusable patterns and promote best practices for data ingest, storage, velocity, and consumption. While advancing and promoting enterprise data capabilities, you will provide people leadership over a development team delivering data lake, data warehouse, and data insights for our student lifecycle and corporate data. The position reports into our Information Technology department and will be part of projects that align with key strategic initiatives to meet SEI’s business objectives.

ssential Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Leads a development team in designing, developing, testing, and deploying data ingest, data curation, reporting, and data serving patterns to enable the Enterprise Data Platform use cases. 

• Provides career growth and timely feedback to the development team to foster high quality deliverables and exceptional teamwork.  

• Establishes strong partnerships with stakeholders; communicates effectively about technology competencies and applicability to business strategies. 

• Leads cloud architecture activities to create robust design and development patterns that provide high reliability and meet data latency SLAs. 

• Establishes and monitors best practices for data ingest, data curation, and data serving solutions in GCP leveraging APIs, Google Pub/Sub, Google Dataflow, Python scripts, SQL, functions, and other services. 

• Optimizes designs and processes to provide faster time-to-market of new products, elimination of redundant solutions, and enhanced data science initiatives. 

• Provides thought leadership and prototypes new solutions where new patterns or technologies are deemed essential. 

• Advances and promotes enterprise data standards, source data quality assessment, ingest data completeness measurement, and metadata management. 

• Modernizes and creates automation in our processes and capabilities set.  Identifies opportunities to apply Artificial Intelligence (AI).   

• Continuously improves team performance through the selection, design, and implementation of DataOps concepts, processes, and automation tools. 

• Leads observability design and implementation; ensures production support is timely and there is strong communication of production outages with the business 

• Ensures tracking and root cause determination of cost increases associated with the cloud services related to the Enterprise Data Platform.   Leads efforts to design enhancements to drive cost savings.    

• Confirms data provisioning meets data security and auditing policies. 

• Assists in defining data privacy and data security practices and helps translate into requirements for our Enterprise Data Platform.
