Sr. Manager, Corporate Tax

The Basics:

As a member of the Tanium Tax department, you will focus on all aspects of corporate tax and will work closely with key internal and external partners to support the tax accounting, income tax filings, and audit defense. You will serve as a true partner to the organization, always approaching work with a lens of adding value to the company.   

This is a hybrid position, which will require in person attendance several days each week in one of the following locations: Addison, TX; Bellevue, WA; Durham, NC; Emeryville, CA; or Reston, VA.

What you’ll do:

• Support the Vice President of Tax relative to overall tax governance and analysis in support of driving the global tax strategy.
• Support the tax department’s communication with company management and the Audit Committee.
• Oversee and manage the department for income tax compliance and income tax accounting.
• Define, measure, and develop the human capital needs of the tax team including the execution of a collaborative team philosophy.
• Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and filing of U.S. federal, state and local income tax returns.  
• Enhance, manage and analyze the income tax provision calculation and process in accordance with ASC 740, Sarbanes-Oxley, the SEC and the company policies and procedures.  
• Manage processes to ensure timely recognition and financial reporting of period specific income tax events to include analysis of uncertain tax positions (FIN 48) and operating tax contingencies (ASC 450).  
• Develop, implement and improve income tax accounting practices and procedures, including the engagement and alignment of the local country subsidiaries and business with the U.S. headquarters’ tax processes.
• Research and document company positions with regard to income tax exposures.
• Work with finance and accounting teams to implement and improve end-to-end tax processes and procedures to mitigate risks and / or scale effectively.  
• Manage relationships and engagement with external tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.
• Perform other duties as assigned. 

We’re looking for someone with:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance Accounting [MST/CPA preferred], with 10+ years of tax experience (some public accounting experience is preferred) as well as experience leading other senior individual contributors and managers. 
• Strong tax technical skills and have experience with US federal, state and local tax compliance.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP reporting and application of ASC 740.
• Systems experience with NetSuite, Longview Tax Provision and the Microsoft 365 suite.
• Extremely organized and detail-oriented individual with exceptional project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communicator.
