Job Description

As a valued senior contributor to our team, you will apply extensive knowledge of principles, advanced techniques, and theories to conduct theoretical and empirical research with public and proprietary data in all areas of mortgage finance business, including mortgage products and securities, borrower behavior, investment and hedging strategies, residential property valuation, macroeconomic models including housing prices and interest rate, financial valuation of finance assets and derivatives, economic capital, and stress testing.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
The Enterprise Model Risk – Model Governance Risk & Controls Advisor role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Coordinate end-to-end Issues Management processes and ensure compliance with policy/procedure requirements.
  • Manage interactions with external regulators and auditors including providing documentation to support audits and exams.
  • Provide the governance and oversight to ensure identified issues receive appropriate remediation and corrective action.
  • Effectively lead Issues calls with internal and external stakeholders with a focus on outcomes
  • Coordinate the creation of action plans with appropriate milestone timelines to ensure timely remediation.
  • Maintain and support corporate requirements for Issues Management in Archer including the creation of action plans, monthly status updates and the documentation of issue closure. Facilitate approvals by issue owners and review of documentation by senior leadership to ensure closure.
  • Create ad-hoc reporting as required, support the department as the SME for Issues Management and Findings Management as required.
  • Perform quality review on the work of others to evidence issue closure or may document issue closure directly in a closure memo.
  • Assist with materials and/or facilitation for the monthly Model Risk Management Level Committee
  • Support model risk management communications
  • Represent the function in applicable meetings
  • Support the Model Governance team and broader Model Risk Management team as deemed necessary

Qualifications

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Required Experiences

  • 6 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience supporting senior leaders and/or executive-level communications

Functional Skills

  • Working with people with different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal
  • Skilled in influencing, negotiating, persuading others and resolving conflict
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making skills with minimal oversight

Desired Experiences

  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Social Science or similar applied quantitative field or equivalent senior oversight experience in industry
  • Expert knowledge of model risk regulatory guidance (FHFA AB 2013-07, SR 11-7, OCC 2011-12) and experience with regulatory interactions
  • Demonstrated experience with stakeholder management and interactions with regulatory entities or audit or prior experience working as an internal auditor or examiner at a financial institution or regulatory agency
  • Expertise creating executive presentations for management committees or oversight bodies
  • Experience with management committee organization
  • Expertise with design and strategic implementation of model risk management policies and procedures, design of risk metrics/scorecards
