What you'll do...
Essential FunctionsAn Optical Lab Associate ensures the quality and efficiency of optical lab operations by executing standardized procedures, performing inspections, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical proficiency, and collaboration across teams. Quality Assurance and Inspection: Inspects lenses and frames for workmanship, material integrity, consistency, and defects using both automated and manual equipment. Reviews and analyzes reports, logs, and forms (for example, breakage reports, performance metrics, testing results) to ensure product quality. Performs quality checks on equipment and processes to maintain compliance with ANSI , Walmart, and state standards. Handles freight and trays of final product to support operational flow. Process Control and SOP Management: Develops and maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) for lab production functions. Trains associates on proper SOP usage to ensure consistent and efficient operations. Monitors adherence to SOPs and evaluates produced work for quality and accuracy. Data Analysis and Continuous Improvement: Collects, prepares, and analyzes performance data using software tools (for example, Microsoft Office, Minitab). Hosts and participates in training events (for example, Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma) to drive process improvements. Tests new products and processes using data-driven analysis to inform facility decisions.
Communication and Collaboration: Communicates effectively with customers, suppliers, and Walmart associates both verbally and in writing. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to support operational goals and resolve issues.
