Job Description
This position reports to the Project Director and is responsible for supporting
and leading project engineering design activities related to the Gum Springs
Incineration project from Owner’s perspective. The candidate will lead a team
of highly experienced engineers and works closely with the engineering firm to
complete the project design and integration of major equipment.
The position is based in Gum Springs construction site which is approximately.
50 miles west of Little Rock, Arkansas. The engineering manager will be
expected to be onsite and interface with the design firm in Texas. Traveling
will be needed from the site the engineering design office as needed. The
engineering manager works with the project team to ensure Owner’s
satisfaction by delivering projects in accordance with the success criteria
defined in the project plan (i.e., operational performance and efficiency,
budget, schedule, regulatory compliance, etc.)
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide project engineering oversight of design engineering team to
ensure timely completion of team assignments, RFIs, action items and
resolves design issues with the engineering firm including successful
design integration of various major equipment
Provide weekly/monthly reports to the site management regarding the
status of engineering issues affecting project cost and schedule.
Lead the development of engineering design and delivery processes
and standards.
Lead and participate in various design reviews (60%, 90% design
reviews) as scheduled
Lead the effort on quickly resolving piping model issues
Additional responsibilities as assigned by the project director
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical Engineering, PE license
is desired. PMP certifications a plus.
15 to 20 plus years of experience managing an engineering team in an
EPC environment for large capital projects in an oil/gas, chemical or
hazardous design and construction projects
Excellent in design integration of various major equipment for capital
projects
Must have previously worked as lead engineer for at least 5 plus years.
Strong engineering background in process, P&IDs, 3D pipe modeling in
an EPC environment (not for Owner) building large plant (Oil/Gas,
Chemical, Hazardous Waste Plants etc.)
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Strong project engineering management skills (initiating, planning,
executing, monitoring, controlling and closing).
Possess broad knowledge of multiple processes and/or engineering.
disciplines, augmented with good experience and seasoning, to the
point where they can address the most complex engineering issues.
Ability to work effectively with various cross functional teams.
Experience in managing and adhering to project budgets and schedules.
Excellent analytical, organizational, computer and interpersonal skills.
Strong interpersonal effectiveness skills, visible “leadership by example”
utilizing participative management involving employees and teamwork
whenever possible.
Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation and reporting skills.
Ability to travel on a short notice.
