As a Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will play a key role in how our operating rooms care for our patients as a whole team relies on you to successfully set up the operating room. Certified CS/SPD Technicians receive ample support, training and education, including learning how to operate the latest, state-of-the-art processing equipment and using the newest sterilization tools and concepts.
A caregiver in this position works rotating evenings/nights from 3:00PM – 11:30PM or 11:00PM – 7:30AM, with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Be responsible for the safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments, equipment distribution and case care management.
Perform case pull functions.
Determine appropriate case carts to be built for specialty procedures.
Dispatch case carts to ensure they are available for surgical/clinical procedures.
Perform recordkeeping functions, such as processing, sterilization, quality assurance and more.
Order and stock supplies.
Maintain adequate levels and inventory of supplies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Two to five years of experience in central service/sterile processing areas
A Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER)
Completion of a recognized training program with certification in central service/sterile processing
Proficient in using computerized instrument tracking systems
Military experience, such as Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F), or similar, will be considered
