JOB SUMMARY: Promotes students’ participation in academic and social activities by addressing challenges related to physical, sensory, cognitive, and psycho-social abilities. Provides assessment to guide therapeutic intervention to ensure student success and promotes an exemplary education program fostering achievement for all students. Develops and promotes good relations among the school community: parents, staff, administration and other community members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only and are subject to flexibility dependent on organizational needs.
- Provide direct and consultative services to students, both individually and in groups to enhance sensory motor skill development and improve participation. Ensure implementation of accommodations, environmental modifications and use of adaptive equipment to support student success across the educational daily routines [Daily, 30%]
- Conduct ecological, formal and informal assessment to determine students’ functional abilities and the impact of physical and sensory motor impairment on participation in daily routines [Weekly, 15%]
- Plan and develop individualized intervention plans based on assessment results to help students achieve educational goals [Weekly, 15%]
- Monitor and communicate student growth and progress, adapt intervention as needed, and maintain documentation pertinent to academic, social, and emotional progress and needs of students. [Daily, 10%]
- Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, administrators, and colleagues to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes using data-driven interventions integrated into the classroom routine. [Daily, 10%]
- Demonstrate strong communication, organization/planning skills, and problem-solving skills through collaborative work with students, teachers, parents and administrators. [Daily, 10%]
- Participate in department, team, building, and district meetings and discussions; student and/or family conferences; social, cultural, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities; and professional growth opportunities. [Daily, 5%]
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested, including supervision of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants as needed. [Daily, 5%]
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum amounts of formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that must be met for a candidate to be considered for a position
- Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy
- Basic knowledge of technology for communication and formal documentation
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Basic organizational skills
- Intermediate verbal and written communication and interpersonal relations skills
- Ability to support programs designed to increase student achievement
- Ability and desire to work as a team member
- Ability to understand, appreciate, and make accommodations for student diversity
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholder groups
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire
MINIMUM CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: The minimum certifications and licenses that must be met, valid, and unexpired for a candidate to be considered for a position
- Hold an active National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) license
- Hold an active Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Occupational Therapist License
- Hold an active Occupational Therapy License through the Colorado State Regulatory Board (DORA)
- Hold an active National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Health First Colorado (Colorado's Medicaid program) account and provide N
