BWXT is currently seeking a Government Relations Director for its Washington, D.C. location!

 

BWXT’s mission is to provide safe and effective nuclear solutions for national security, clean energy, environmental remediation, nuclear medicine and space exploration. We have manufacturing facilities, laboratories and work sites all across the country, all of which require products and services to work efficiently and effectively.

 

Job Description/Duties:

  • Represent corporate interests on Capitol Hill and within the Administration with a focus on the company’s naval reactors business, Department of Defense advanced reactor programs, the Department of Energy’s national security programs and emerging nuclear in-space capabilities.
  • Influence, track and report on legislation in both the House and Senate.
  • Manage annual Congressional programmatic budget request process.
  • Engage in the appropriate agency budgetary and regulatory processes.
  • Provide strategic business guidance to internal senior leadership.
  • Serve as the company’s representative in related industry trade associations and at political events.

 

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 15 to 20 years of related experience.
  • U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
  • Direct legislative experience, ideally handling the national security appropriations portfolio.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Navy shipbuilding accounts, naval nuclear reactors, NNSA and DOE site management, space policy and appropriations issues.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the Congressional appropriations process.
  • Must have a bipartisan network across Capitol Hill.
  • Ability to adhere to strict ethical and legal guidelines.
  • Able to demonstrate superior written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

 

Benefits:

The Government Relations Manager will work a 9/80 work week while receiving market leading pay, paid time off, paid winter holiday shutdown, educational refund plan, medical, dental, and vision insurance options and service-based retirement contributions with additional 401k match.

 

The base salary range for this position in DC at the start of employment is expected to be between $154,000 and $271,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
