Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations for Billing, Follow Up, Denials Management, Cash Posting, Credits, Refunds, and other duties to effectively manage accounts receivable

  • Monitor key performance indicators (DNFB, AR Days, AR Aging, Denial Rates, Collection Rates, Clean Claim Rates, etc.), analyze trends, and identify areas for improvement. 

  • Provide routine updates to VP of Revenue Cycle on departmental performance

  • Lead key initiatives to support organizational Revenue Cycle goals

  • Collaborate with Finance to effectively execute month-end close procedures pertaining to Revenue Cycle.

  • Manage payor denials and assist in educating department leaders of denials specific to their areas.  Assist in developing potential solutions to mitigate future write-offs.

  • Assist staff with any accounts escalated for assistance in a timely manner

  • Work with Managed Care to escalate payor issues in a timely manner

  • Monitor Texas Medicaid and Commercial payor provider bulletins and policies to coordinate timely and necessary education to staff and updates in Epic.

  • Perform retrospective reviews based on governmental and third-party payer requests or upon request from Vice President of Revenue Cycle

  • Manage departmental productivity, staffing, and performance, providing education to team as necessary

  • Foster cross departmental relationships sharing Revenue Cycle performance and partnering for operational improvement

  • Manage departmental usage of Epic, ensuring effective utilization of system and identifying opportunities to enhance solution

  • Oversee key components of Revenue Integrity including charge capture, charge reconciliation, and charge compliance

  • Monitors vendor performance and relationships for vendors performing services within Billing operations

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • 5-7 years of progressing leadership experience in revenue cycle required

  • Experience in hospital and physician Billing

  • EMR experience required, preferably Epic

  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills required
