Senior Buyer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer with a strong background in purchasing complex items and custom parts for a fast-paced, make-to-order manufacturing environment. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing high-quality materials, managing supplier relationships, ensuring timely deliveries, and driving cost efficiency—all while supporting production goals and maintaining compliance with engineering and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Source goods and services globally to meet engineered design, quality, and delivery requirements.
• Create and manage purchase orders and supplier data in the ERP system, including pricing and terms.
• Negotiate with suppliers, monitor vendor performance, and maintain supplier continuity while identifying cost-reduction opportunities.
• Read and interpret technical specifications, schematics, and drawings to ensure purchased materials meet requirements.
• Oversee domestic and international freight selection, coordinate logistics, and expedite orders to meet deadlines.
• Collaborate with the Master Scheduler on MRP, production planning, and scheduling as needed.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes and mitigate supply chain risks.

Qualifications & Experience

• 10+ years’ purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment (make-to-order preferred).
• Proven track record of purchasing complex items and custom parts.
• Strong understanding of documentation, technical drawings, and specifications.
• International shipping and purchasing experience.
• Prior design or drafting engineering experience is a plus.
• Proficient in MS Office; experience with ERP systems required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
