The Associate Director, Data Engineering (Hybrid Work Optimization) role is a strategic partner within the People Analytics Data Engineering team responsible for engaging with team members and key stakeholders to design, model and lead development of pipelines and subsequent data structures for the explicit intent of delivering better analytics insights for the hybrid work optimization, future of work, and related workforce analytics. We’re looking for someone with at least 6+ years of professional experience with 4 years specializing in analytics data engineering, data warehousing, dimensional modelling and ETL / ELT data pipelines within cloud or hybrid infrastructure environment.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and deliver the data infrastructure and solutions that enable us to identify and analyze the relationship between associate behaviors and business outcomes in a hybrid work environment.
  • Create the “always on” mechanisms to monitor and better understand those behaviors and related business outcomes
  • Partner with Product Managers and internal partners to identify and execute on the highest impact actions that will drive meaningful improvement in the next year·
  • Build the data infrastructure roadmap for continuous improvement of our hybrid work environment to drive our target outcomes
  • Design and lead the building of complex data pipelines and dimensional models.
  • Engage with key stakeholders related to the People domain, Real Estate and related functions to translate business needs into tangible technical requirements, with an ever-present focus on increasing business growth, and attracting / retaining talent.
  • Elicit key metrics and calculations from stakeholders, along with necessary attributes which may describe, filter, or categorize these measures. Translate these into requirements to develop scalable dimensional data models for yourself or other junior engineers to deliver within a broader data warehouse.
  • Update JIRA / agile boards with relevant tasks, statuses, and estimates to support team operations, leadership reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll need:

  • Strategic Problem Solving with Bias for Action
  • 6+ years of experience in analytics, data engineering, visualization, business intelligence, or analytical consulting
  • 4+ years of effectively managing or serving as primary contributor on data engineering or analytics development projects.
  • Proven ability to use data, analytics, and business knowledge to solve complex business problems related to hybrid work.
  • Successful track record of superior service delivery and change management in a global environment.
  • Ability to ask questions leading to firmer understanding of business processes and associated insights to be developed.
  • Excellent Communication and Collaboration:
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex topics at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders and leaders in the design of solutions for critical business initiatives
  • Technical Acumen
  • Strong data modeling mindset with a focus on business impact, scalability and interoperability.
  • Proven experience translating business requirements into dimensional models within a scalable, broader data warehouse.
  • Experience in - Microsoft Azure, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL database, Data Transformation, and ETL
  • Expert SQL skills- ability to write or optimize efficient queries and DDL / DML with more advanced methodologies such as indexing, partitions, etc.
  • Strong experience or working knowledge of common data visualization or business intelligence tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Oracle BI, Visier, etc.)
  • Experience in deployment processes following change controls. Should be aware of CI/CD pipelines –Jenkins, DevOps etc.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python or R)
  • Knowledge of lake house or logical data warehousing and other cloud specific analytics storage platforms.
