Position Summary:

Cell Therapy is a groundbreaking form of cancer treatment that continues to advance into earlier lines of treatment with potential to expand into other disease areas such as auto-immune diseases.  At BMS we are expanding access and supply of two leading commercial cell therapy products and advancing a promising cell therapy pipeline. 

To make this happen, the Cell Therapy Development and Operations organization (CTDO) invests in an extensive technical project portfolio across all CTDO organizations: CT Global Manufacturing, CT Manufacturing Technology, CT External Manufacturing, CT Quality, and CT Development, and CT Supply Chain. 

The CT Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Leader will establish and facilitate the CTDO wide Project Portfolio Management system that ensures on-time value outcomes are realized from our CTDO project portfolio.  The CTDO PPM system will establish project management guidelines for all of the PMO’s and establish the business rules for project portfolio management decisions and governance across sites, functions, products, and CTDO-LT levels.  

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Create a strong integrated PPM control system implemented across all CTDO sites and functions that assures project execution, project prioritization, and value realization from the OpU wide portfolio.  This includes
    • Define the core phase/gate project management model that will become the standard across all CTDO organizations.
    • Develop and deploy standard prioritization & value framework put into standard practice across all CTDO PMO’s
    • Ensure Project resourcing requirements are part of standard project management practice and gate reviews.
    • Define and implement the Hierarchy of PMO/PPM forums for projects to secure gate decisions, for execution oversight, and for risk escalation – linking PMO’s across sites, functions, product teams, and CTDO-LT levels.
  • Transformational change leader for creating CT PPM system by forming and facilitating a CTDO PMO leader community to share PMO/Portfolio management best practices and lessons learned across the network.
  • Facilitate CTDO-LT level Project Portfolio review cycles, including gate checkpoint decisions and manage by exception escalations for key projects at risk. 
  • Coach project, program, and PMO leaders across CTDO on requirements to pass through gate checkpoints successfully.
  • Provide CTDO-LT level visibility to projects in execution phase focusing on top investment/impact projects and programs with manage by exception approach.
  • Advance our ability to identify and manage resource bottleneck areas as part of project & portfolio management standard process.
  • Ensure the project portfolio remains tied to CTDO strategic objectives, and that project outcomes are measured and confirmed vs plan.   Active participation of CTDO Hoshin Kanri process.
  • Establish continuous improvement roadmap for PMO & PPM capabilities across CTDO.
