Job Description:
Provides financial counseling to uninsured/underinsured patients by screening for potential Medicaid eligibility, assisting with the application process through determination, providing education regarding the Affordable Care Act and assisting with navigation through the marketplace, arranging payment plans, generating price quotes and providing Intermountain Health Financial Assistance Applications.Schedule - This position is Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am-6:00pm and Monday-Wednesday 1:30pm-10pm
- Interviews patients and consumers, screening for available internal and Public Benefit Programs, applying for appropriate program; in person and remote.
- Completes applications for Public Benefit programs, submitting with required documents.
- Process and determine requests for internal and external financial assistance programs
- Financially clear patients for elective surgeries/services.
- Assists with co-pay assistance program application process.
- Provides general insurance education
- Provides Affordable Care Act (ACA) insurance education and navigation.
- Point of service collections and establish payment plans.

Patient Financial Specialist – Platte Valley
- Bilingual (Spanish) is required.
- Schedules and meets with patients for Colorado Indigent Care Program (CICP) determination. Review and process applications, ensuring completeness, verifying supporting documents, and determining level of eligibility for CICP.
- Verifies, documents, and/or updates patient demographic information and patient account notes for all interactions/transactions in CICP software and/or EPIC. Images/scans application and all required supporting documents.
- Provides patients with CICP card. Educates patients of responsibilities and exclusions of contract benefits.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
Preferred Requirements
- Bilingual Spanish speaker/writer and customer service experience.
- Experience with Medicaid
- Experience applying for public benefit programs
- Experience in financial assistance
