Job Description

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for but not limited to preparing and recording revenue transactions, cash entries and related variance analysis and GL reconciliations. This individual will also assist with monthly P&L reviews, quarterly reviews, year-end audit requests, and ad hoc research projects as they arise.

The Staff Accountant will also support the day-to-day billing activities of the Company. This individual will assist with the billing of ancillary revenue and intercompany items and preparing associated receivable reconciliations.

The candidate will be able to develop and maintain smooth, cooperative working relationships with all levels in the Company and cross-functional departments such as Cash Management, Partnerships, and FP&A. Qualified candidates will have a willingness to learn, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. The expectations for the role are to demonstrate strong organizational skills and effective management of his or her responsibilities in a fast paced environment.

This position will report directly to the Manager of Accounting at the Company’s corporate headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with month-end close process including but not limited to the recording of revenue transactions including deferred amortizations and monthly usage, cash transactions, and expense allocations to the general ledger
  • Monitor, analyze, and reconcile various expense accounts and prepare budget vs actuals analysis.
  • Build rapport with club managers to assist with monthly financial inquires.
  • Prepare billing and track collections for ancillary revenue, including rental and partnerships revenue
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and assist with other balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with intercompany reconciliations and manage intercompany billing
  • Generate periodic financial reports for monthly close and customer statements  
  • Work in partnership with and provide support for senior team members on other various financial and operating analyses and ad hoc projects
  • Assist with preparation of various schedules and supporting documentation for the external audit
  • Will work directly with several CPA, so will have opportunity to gain experience hours if a CPA candidate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a monthly end close accounting function and balance sheet reconciliation 
  • CPA or actively pursuing CPA certification preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of D365 Finance and Operations, a plus
  • Self-motivated, proactive thinker with ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
  • Work both independently with limited supervision as well as in a team environment.
  • Able to handle pressure and short deadlines with a positive attitude
