About Madrigal Pharmaceuticals

Madrigal Pharmaceuticals is at a pivotal moment in our journey: evolving from a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company to a fully integrated commercial organization. Our mission is to deliver innovative therapies that transform the lives of patients with cardiovascular, metabolic, and liver diseases. To achieve this, we are building a world-class workforce and culture that reflect the same innovation and rigor as our science.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Director of Talent Access to design, lead, and scale Madrigal’s talent agenda during this critical phase of growth. Reporting into the Vice President, Talent Access and partnering closely with the hiring team, this leader will serve as both strategist and operator—building the systems, processes, and experiences that ensure we attract, hire, and retain the best talent across the Business units and functions within the company.

This role requires a leader who thrives in high-growth, early-commercial biotech environments—where agility, creativity, and business partnership are essential. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Talent Leadership

  • Define and lead Madrigal’s enterprise-wide talent acquisition strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities as we move from clinical to commercial scale.
  • Partner with executives, hiring managers, and HR business partners to forecast workforce needs and align talent strategies with long-term business goals.
  • Serve as a thought partner on headcount planning, role design, leveling, and competitive positioning in a dynamic labor market.
  • Lead expansion efforts by developing scalable strategies for the U.S. talent market, ensuring we build an employee base that is reflective of the broad talent market place.

Recruiting Excellence & Operations

  • Build a best-in-class TA function that delivers quality hires, exceptional candidate experience, and operational efficiency.
  • Personally lead full-cycle recruitment for mission-critical roles.
  • Elevate employer branding and position Madrigal as a destination for top biotech talent.
  • Implement interview capability-building across the organization to ensure equitable, structured, and high-quality hiring decisions.

Workforce Planning & Talent Strategy

  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Finance, and hiring managers on benchmarking, workforce segmentation, and internal mobility strategies.
  • Develop and execute strategies for contingent workforce management, vendor selection, and agency engagement to support flexible scaling.
  • Partner with Talent Management to integrate career pathing, succession planning, and employee development with recruiting practices.

Technology, Systems & Insights

  • Oversee optimization of Workday Recruiting, ensuring seamless integration with broader HR systems.
  • Leverage AI and advanced sourcing tools to drive efficiency and reach untapped talent pools.
  • Build and deliver talent dashboards and analytics to inform decision-making, measure performance, and continuously improve outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive corporate TA leadership experience, with deep expertise in biotech/pharma, ideally in companies scaling from clinical to commercial.
  • Proven track record of building and leading TA functions in high-growth environments.
  • Expertise in Workday Recruiting and familiarity with AI-enabled recruiting technologies.
  • Experience managing contingent workforce programs, external search partnerships, and recruiting compliance standards.
  • Strategic, data-driven leader with leadership presence and exceptional influencing skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
