The ROC Foundation is a 501(c)3 tax deductible entity which is the non-profit arm of Reno Orthopedic Center (ROC). The ROC Foundation houses, manages and implements orthopedic research projects including clinical trials and for-publishing works, educational initiatives including student observations, shadowing, internships and hosts three Orthopedic Fellows annually. The Foundation supports the education, research, and outreach about orthopedic careers, new medical devices and equipment, and works to provide support to community organizations who embody the values of ROC and the ROC Foundation. The Foundation houses the only education OR/lab space in all of Northern Nevada.
Internship Description:
The Data Analyst will support data projects and operations including analyzing large datasets, interpreting results, and providing insights to support medical research and education projects. This role requires proficiency in statistical software, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members to generate impactful solutions within the defined research, business, and educational areas.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Analyze large datasets using statistical software to extract meaningful insights.
- Collaborate with researchers to design data collection protocols and study methodologies.
- Clean, organize, and validate medical data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Develop statistical models and visualizations to analyze healthcare outcomes and trends and present findings.
- Interpret research findings and present results in clear, concise reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support ongoing research and education projects.
- Stay current with advancements in medical research methodologies and data analysis techniques.
- Adhere to regulatory requirements and ethical standards in handling medical data.
Goals and Expectations for the Intern:
The Intern will be tasked with specific objectives including but not limited to analyzing research and patient datasets, interpreting those results, supporting the education department with interpreting data and providing insights into the data projects, and working with the Executive Director to learn about how and why data is an important function to the daily operational success of a nonprofit. The intern is expected to take initiative once onboarded, ask questions, and be willing to learn in a new environment.
Requirements
Coursework/pursuing a degree in analytics or related field
- Knowledge of;
- Processing, spreadsheet, internet, e-mail, and scheduling applications

- Attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications - How can you set yourself apart from other applicants?
- Knowledge of statistical programming languages
Desired Schedule for Intern:
Anytime between 8am - 4pm, Monday thru Friday (subject to availability of the intern and agreement with supervisor)
