Lifeguard (Part-Time)

Description

Are you a strong swimmer? Do you enjoy being responsible and be able to provide supervision and safety of all in a pool environment? If so, please consider applying and joining the Montachusett Community Branches' Aquatics Team!

Under the direction of the Aquatics Coordinator, Lifeguards at the YMCA are in charge on creating and maintaining a safe pool environment for all YMCA members. 

Qualifications:

1.) Must be 18 years old.

2.) Lifeguard Certification required: Current YMCA Lifeguarding, Red Cross Lifeguarding or able to obtain certification before employment (in progress at a Lifeguard class)

3.) CPR for professional rescuer, AED, Basic Firs Aid, & Oxygen Administration certification required or required to obtain withing 30 days of hire

Essential Functions:

1.) Maintains constant surveillance of the swim area while on duty

2.) Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area – practices PREVENTATIVE lifeguarding

3.) Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergencies immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes related reports as required

4.) Remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others

5.) Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA.

6.) Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed

7.) Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving for shift.

8.) Performs chemical testing at appropriate times of the day, as required, and takes appropriate action

9.) Attends all staff meetings and training as required

10.) Maintains certifications listed under Certificates, Licenses

11.) Other duties as assigned

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour. Plus, access to YMCA facilities to all YMCA employees, Employee Assistance Program, and Sick Leave
