Software Engineer II – Gameplay Integration
San Mateo, CA
Role Overview:
We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our Game Integration Platform Team, where you will help integrate exciting new PlayStation features into gameplay. In this role, you will collaborate with senior engineers to develop systems that enhance the PlayStation ecosystem, focusing on performance optimization, feature development, and debugging. This is a great opportunity to work on innovative projects at the intersection of SDK technology and game development, contributing to the future of PlayStation gaming!
Responsibilities:

Contribute to the development of cross-platform game systems, leveraging PlayStation-specific SDK features.

Implement new gameplay features, improve existing systems, and diagnose system failures.

Assist in performance analysis and system optimization to ensure seamless gameplay experiences.

Work closely with senior engineers and team members to collaborate on large system designs and specifications.

Develop and maintain technical documentation for tools and processes.

Participate in team Agile processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Demonstrate responsibility and professionalism in all tasks and collaborations.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

2-4 years of experience in software development, with a focus on C/C++ programming.

Understanding of multi-threaded programming and game networking systems.

Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization.

Basic knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, and HTTP/HTTPS.
-
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.

Passion for gaming and a strong desire to contribute to the PlayStation ecosystem.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with game development engines like Unreal Engine or other proprietary engines.

Familiarity with cloud technologies such as AWS or containers (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

Knowledge of game networking models such as peer-to-peer or client/server architectures.

Experience with gameplay debugging tools and performance profilers.

Interest in learning about PlayStation’s platform SDK and network capabilities.
