Job Description
Sr. Research Associate I, Analytical Development and Operations
Gilead Sciences, Inc. is a research-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops, and commercializes innovative medicines. This role is in the Technical Operations (Tech-Ops) organization within Analytical Development and Operations (ADO), based at our headquarters in Foster City, CA. The group is responsible for qualification and inventory management of Gilead’s small molecule and peptide reference standards. The successful candidate will possess a detailed understanding of analytical instrumentation, characterization, strong critical thinking skills, and excellent communication skills.
Essential Responsibilities & Skills:
Execute analytical testing including appearance, water content, liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, TGA/DSC, infrared and UV-Vis spectroscopy.
Assist in troubleshooting of instrumentation and test methods.
Review testing data and results to ensure compliance with appropriate test methods, specifications, and protocols. Recognize anomalous and inconsistent results and interpret outcomes.
Adhere to and incorporate GMP, GDP, and GLP principles in daily tasks and approach to work. Maintain laboratory safety and ALCOA++ at all times.
Able to work well independently and in a team setting on assigned tasks.
Participate in group meetings, present results of work, interpret data, and draw conclusions regarding presented material and nature of work.
Excellent communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills are required.
Education & Experience:
BS degree with 2+ years of relevant biotech/pharmaceutical professional experience, OR MS degree with 0+ years of industry experience. Degrees should be in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
Hands-on experience and problem-solving skills with chromatographic techniques (HPLC/UPLC, GC) are highly desired.
