Position Overview: The Senior Civil Rights Case Manager/Deputy Title IX Coordinator will play a critical role in the University’s response to allegations of discrimination, harassment, hate, bias, and retaliation based on a protected class. This role will provide administrative leadership and case management oversight, ensuring the timely coordination and implementation of supportive measures, resources, processes, and on and off-campus referrals within the Office of Equity and Civil Rights (ECR). Responsibilities: The Senior Civil Rights Case Manager/Deputy Title IX Coordinator will manage case coordination, facilitate case-related communication with campus partners, and ensure that case management protocols align with relevant policies, procedures, federal and state law.   As a visible leader, the Senior Civil Rights Case Manager/Deputy Title IX Coordinator will represent the office in the absence of the Assistant Vice President, managing urgent matters and ensuring the continuity of ECR’s daily operations.   The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable of civil rights laws (particularly Title IX, Title VII, Title VI, and the ADA/Section 504, highly organized, self-motivated, and able to communicate effectively with diverse campus partners while managing complex, time-sensitive responsibilities. Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Experience Required:

  • At least three (3) years of direct experience in case management of civil rights reports or related reports within a university setting or a comparable role.
  • Experience conducting intakes, investigations and/or facilitating civil rights related training, preferably in higher education and/or a civil rights organizations.
  • Familiarity with higher education and equity and civil rights related conduct processes procedures.
  • Direct experience with Title IX and related laws; including the understanding of recent Title IX developments, regulatory and enforcement guidance, and legislative initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Title VI, Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ADEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Clery Act and VAWA.
  • Ability to prioritize work appropriately while anticipating deadlines, as well as the ability to meet established deadlines timely.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with other administrative and academic departments, faculty, staff, students, alumni groups, and the general public.
  • Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity toward experiences and expressions of trauma caused by discrimination and harassment
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to privacy.
  • Keen interpersonal skills, cultural awareness, and sensitivity to diverse populations; substantial experience interacting, collaborating, establishing rapport, and maintaining productive relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and staff from diverse populations, to include, but not limited to underrepresented minorities, LGBTQIA+ community, and persons with disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:  Education Preferred:
  • Juris Doctorate or Master’s Degree in student affairs, higher education leadership, social work, law or related field preferred.
Experience Preferred:
  • 5+ years of experience working in higher education.
  • At least 2 years of experience supervising staff and/or student employees or related supervisory experience.
