Mobility Nurse Assistant, Full-Time, ICU and IMC,Wilkes Medical Center
Job Summary:
The Nursing Assistant supports the nursing staff and physical therapist by providing exercise, transfer, or ambulation treatments to fulfill the plan of care. This role involves offering direct and indirect care following physician and nursing orders, with a focus on achieving the highest standards of age and development-specific care.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Completion of a North Carolina state-approved Nurse Aide I course.
- Listed with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service Regulation Nurse Aide I Registry.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care: Participate in the implementation of the nursing process by providing direct care to patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse (RN). Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and pre- and post-operative care.
Safety: Create and maintain a safe and therapeutic physical environment, including hallways, utility rooms, par stock, and kitchen areas. Minimize the risk of injury by promoting fall precautions, the use of call bells, side rails, and other safety measures, including the use of appropriate lift equipment for patients, self, co-workers, and the facility.
Communication: Ensure complete, accurate, and timely communication of patient information.
Special Procedures: Perform special procedures correctly under the direction of Registered Nurse (RN).
Effective Communication: Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, colleagues, patients, and family members in a professional and positive manner.
Professional Development: Take personal responsibility and initiative for performance and professional growth and development.
Age-Specific Care: Provide age and developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform effectively with frequent workload changes and competing demands.
Work Environment:
- Contact with patients and family members under various circumstances.
- Possible exposure to infections and contagious diseases.
- Occasional exposure to radiation hazards.
- Exposure to cleaning agents and chemicals.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- Occasionally subject to irregular hours.
- Use of personal protective equipment as needed.
