General Summary
Assist in financial closings, conducting financial reporting, performing budgeting and variance analysis, coordinating tax compliance and provision activities, and supervising a bookkeeper
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Assist closing process and prepare timely and accurate closing package, financial reports/packages (Stravis) on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly/quarterly/annual budget, financial forecasts, and variance reports.
- Assist in managing day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, implementing best practices, and supervising/mentoring/training a bookkeeper.
- Support Murata Electronics in the preparation of tax provisions and returns, including the responsibility of timely furnishing the necessary information.
- Assist with other special projects when needed.
- Perform other job-related responsibilities and duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Miscellaneous Job Responsibilities
- Address transfer pricing issues by collaborating with senior consultants to ensure the company’s transfer pricing strategies and intercompany transactions are aligned with local/international regulations and business objectives.
- Assist senior consultant in assessing the company’s global operations to determine the presence of permanent establishment (PE) in foreign jurisdictions.
- Assist senior consultant in performing M&A tax due diligence and short-term post-merger integration efforts.
- Assist in conducting tax due diligence on potential investment and acquisition target.
- Assist in analyzing financial records, tax returns, and compliance with tax regulations to identify potential tax liabilities and risks.
- Facilitate communication and information exchange between different affiliates/teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, tax, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in financial/managerial accounting or taxation. Alternatively, a minimum of 1-3 years of experience at a Big 4 accounting firm.
- Proven experience as a financial accountant with a focus on reporting and budgeting.
- Knowledge of financial accounting regulations and reporting standards (e.g. GAAP/IFRS/IRC).
- Strong Proficiency in QuickBooks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Organization skills and time management skills.
- Research skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g. CPA).
- Knowledge of transfer pricing, cross-border, and M&A taxation.
- Proficiency in Japanese.
Travel
This position may require infrequent domestic and international travel.
