Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager General Manufacturing 3 to lead our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Operations organization. This position will be located in Iuka, MS.

Position Summary / Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for operations execution in the Iuka, MS building 1016. The primary purpose of this position is to lead the manufacturing organization for a program(s).  The candidate will be measured on both financial and non-financial indicators directly related to safety, quality, on-time delivery, employee engagement, and cost profitability.  The Candidate’s other primary roles include both creation of strategic vision (long-term) and tactical management (short-term) for the assigned programs within Iuka.

  • Overall responsibility for execution of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Employee, and Cost objectives, along with Employee Engagement for a large organizational unit with-in the FCC site
  • Strong focus on safe work environment, Zero Defects, and continuous improvement activities
  • Optimizes product flow, production rates, and product mix to meet customer demands, improve inventory turns and drive month over month cost improvement
  • Responsible for proactive resource management to mitigate production schedule risks
  • Support a work environment characterized by employee involvement and participative management to encourage the highest level of employee commitment and cooperation
  • Manage site staffing levels to support customer requirements while maintaining efficient operations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of experience; Associate’s degree and 9 years of experience; or High School Diploma and 11 years of experience
  • 3 years of leadership in a role with direct reports
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP)
  • Experience managing multiple programs
  • Experience in labor and capacity forecasting
  • Proven experience with mid to high-rate production programs
  • Strong working knowledge of composites manufacturing processes to include experience manufacturing composite structures
  • Demonstrated consistent use of the following competencies: Business acumen, composure, delegating, interpersonal savvy, planning, time management, timely decision making, presentation skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to creating and maintaining a safe work environment
  • Understanding and use of root cause analysis
  • Demonstrated success in maximizing resources and throughput
  • Demonstrated ability to remove waste from production process

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in management or engineering
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience in implementing continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated use of production control tools (e.g., schedule, MRP, manpower forecasts)
  • A demonstrated progressive increase in responsibilities within operations organization
