Senior Chemistry Analyst

Shift: Tuesday - Saturday - 8:30am – 4:30pm

The scope of this role is to ensure optimal function of the laboratory analysis in the Regional Lab. To perform and conduct day to day testing of the Regional Analytical Laboratory to support both R&D and Supply (Manufacturing) at Quality Innovation Center (Thompson Station, TN). 

The Analytical Laboratories conduct routine physical and chemical analyses based on Mars Reference methods as aligned with Global Laboratory Strategy on raw materials and finished products with emphasis on Quality and Food Safety. The associate will be responsible for internal lab operational programs including lab safety, chemical hygiene and site laboratory support. The role also requires compliance with Mars Global Laboratory Quality Standards and with long-term accreditation to ISO 17025.

The scope of this role is to ensure optimal function of the laboratory analysis in the Regional Lab.

What are we looking for?

  • 3 + years of practical chemistry laboratory experience (Graduate degree completion can substitute for up to two years of required experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field (e.g., Food Science, Biology, pharmaceutical).

  • Experience working in a production lab environment

  • Working knowledge of ISO 17025

  • Knowledge of food safety and nutrition an asset

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Deliver true, accurate results in a timely manner

  • Assist and provide backup to Operations Manager in the monitoring and planning support of the regional laboratory

  • Assist and provide backup to Operations Manager in managing day to day operations of the lab and emergencies by constantly adapting resources within the laboratory.

  • Identify training needs for unit, updating training matrix for associates within unit.

  • Collaborate with Quality Coordinator to ensure all training records for unit/analysis are completed.

  • Follow KPI’s and participate in progress plans.

  • Provide technical advice for analysis.

  • When appropriate, help to write/create documents and records for, and always follow laboratory quality management systems ISO 17025 and Mars Global Laboratory Quality Management System.
